Welcome to the Applied Full Stack Data Science Handbook!

What does this book cover? The answer is in the title.

Applied. This book centers on application. Though we will discuss theory when needed, my focus is to help you build functional data science products.
Full Stack. We will focus on a range of technologies and methodologies for building intelligent systems.
Data Science. We will center our attention on the process of ingesting, wrangling, and modeling data along with putting models into a production environment.
Handbook. While continuity exists among chapters, each chapter can stand on its own and serve as a useful reference manual.

This book walks through a project step-by-step. However, you don't have to follow the project. You can take bits and pieces, view the examples, and customize to your own work. Value exists in simply seeing examples and customizing relevant segments of work.

We have a fun, challenging, and rewarding journey ahead. Let’s get started!

Development Environment

Local development in this book is done on a Mac. Windows alternatives will be presented when possible, though they will not be reviewed as deeply. Every task in this book can run on Windows, with adjustments in some places.
